Summary. Show Images determines:

Check Show Images to download and show all pictures on the page selected.
The value for this option when a getemall or a save is done will determine whether image files are requested or not.
If you want to get all required images so that page can be viewed offline later, make sure this option is checked when you press a save [F2] or grab (getemall) key [F7].
You can then choose later whether to show the images using Show Images and the Apply Changes to ... menu option. Pages will load a little more quickly in Internet Explorer (IE) if images are not shown.
Note that images are often used for buttons or even menu / navigation bars. Therefore they are essential on some pages.
You can use KybIE to quickly view pages "with - " vs. "without images" and do not need to get them each time from the internet. Simply press the shortcut key [Ctrl+M] to hide-show images on the current page. Make sure Apply Changes ... is checked and that the page displayed is from a KybIE list.
Note also that images will only ever be *displayed* in Internet Explorer (IE) if the IE option to load images is checked.
KybIE Show Images option will still determine whether images are downloaded or not when Internet Explorers Show Pictures option is unchecked. However the downloaded and cached images for the page will only be shown in Internet Explorer (IE) if the IE option is changed.
The Internet Explorer (IE) option can be changed using Tools/Internet Options from menus of IE, on the advanced tab there is an option to indicate whether IE should ever load images [For Internet Explorer 6.0 "Multimedia / Show pictures"].
When Show Images is different at the time the page is displayed to that when the save or getemall was done, the new value will be used only if Apply changes to Show Images/Scripts/Plug Ins when display page is checked.
If images required are not available they will be requested at that time. However the page will not be moved to the amber list unless Requested Again.
When the Show Images value has changed and images were not previously available they will become available after a few seconds or minutes depending on your net connection. To view the page with the images received so far press F5 on the Internet Explorer window.
