'K Save Page [F2]' - Program Help start.
If you press F2 in Internet Explorer, the page will be saved without needing any further action by you.
The main text for the page will be saved as it is shown on the screen. Once that is complete a message will be shown in the status bar of Internet Explorer.
You can save just the HTML (text and formatting without images etc.) or the complete page with all images, scripts and plug-ins. You can also elect to save using menu options [use the options checked on the KybIE menu] for images, scripts and plug-ins. The value for this option which corresponds to IE's 'save as type' is entered using Options - Save Page Options.
The page will also be added to a KybIE set (not always the set for which numbers are shown. See select set for saved pages). When first saved it will be added to the blue list. Once processing is done to grab and localise all components it will be moved to the amber (partially available) or green (all images available) list. You can display the list using F8. See Show Next - F8 to Show Next Green.
The directory and 'save as type' to be saved when F2 is pressed is taken from the options specified using Options - Save Page Options. The options can be changed by using right click on the KybIE window and the Options > Save Page from the menu. The KybIE menu can also be shown from interne explorer with shortcut key Ctrl+Q.
To save a single page to a different directory or with different 'save as type' or to change the name, use Ctrl+F2 or the Save Page As ... option on either KybIE or IE context menu. See K Save Page As ... [Ctrl+F2]
Any images, stylesheets or other files needed to display the page offline will then be grabbed in the background in a seperate thread. You do not need to wait whilst this process is completed. You can continue to other pages in the same IE window and even save other pages. This is a major improvement on IE's save function which will make you wait whilst all images and other components are fetched.
Files will be taken from the IE cache when available. They are almost always available because you just displayed the page. This is also a major (internal) difference to IE's save since IE appears to fetch all files even those it has available on your hard drive already.
