NB Value to be Found and Value to be excluded should be set blank if not required.
Match case and/or Find Only whole words only apply if text to be found in files is entered.

A search only on the basis of size or date will be much quicker than also selecting files containing text.

If a date criteria and a size criteria and a find containing text criteria are entered, only files that satisfy ALL criteria will be listed.

Example:
Find files modified between the start of the current month and today
Uncheck Find with Size ... (Do not select files by size)
Set Text Value to be found to blank (Do not select files containing text)
Find files Named *.txt, Look In All Drives, Include Subdirs.

Results of example will be:
a file list with all files called *.txt which have been modified between the start of the current month and today.

Files named a.txt, notes.txt will be listed. Files named law.doc, notes.html will not be listed.
Files in any directory on any drive will be listed. This includes Floppy disc drive and CD rom drive.

a. Press Shift+F4 key.
b. Press Complex Criteria button
c. Press Text to Find / Exclude button. Enter list of values to be found. Enter list of values to be excluded. File will be listed when any value from the list is found. Except when the value found matches one of the values to be excluded.

e. Press Options / Last ... button to return to the Enter Find Criteria screen.
d. Specify directory or drive to Look In and Choose whether to Include Subdirs
e. Enter criteria to select files Named * or *.txt, etc.
f. Press F4 for a list of files.

If more than one Text to find value is specified, a file will be listed if ANY of the values are found. But only if all other criteria are matched.

After a value is found, other criteria are checked.
If all other criteria are OK the file is listed and K-free continues to search for the next file.
If a found value is rejected because of one of the other criteria, K-free will continue to search that file.

A found value will be REJECTED if it is part of ANY of the "ExclUde values".
Values to exclude should always contain one of the values to find. If not, they will be ignored. I.e. Find lon, exclude long is correct. Find lon, exclude man is not correct (and the exclude criteria will be ignored).

If Only find when Line starts is specified, a found value will only be ACCEPTED when the line on which it is found starts with ANY of the list of values. If Only on same Line is also specified, this criteria must ALSO be satisfied. But only ONE of the list of values needs to be on the same line as the value found.

Similarly Only on same Line and Only Within Range.

If Exclude Line which starts is specified, a found value will be REJECTED when the line on which it is found starts with ANY of the list of values.

Similarly Exclude when value on same Line and Exclude when value Within Range.

Example1:
Find files containing lon or Lon. Exclude long, Long, blond
Match case but NOT Match whole word.
Remove Date/Size criteria (Do not select files by date/size)
Find files Named *.htm|*.html, Look In C:\, Include Subdirs.

Results of example1 will be:
a file list with all files called *.htm or *.html containing Lon or lon in C:\ or any subdirectory of C:\.

Files containing Lon, London, Londoner, lon, london, londoner will be returned as well as files containing Lone, BLond, Blond, etc.
london and London are returned because we specified both Lon and lon as text values to find.
london and Londoner are returned because Match whole word was NOT checked.
BLond, Blond are returned because Match case was selected and only blond is excluded.

Files containing only Long, blond, longitutude, along, LONE (but no other matching values) will not be listed.
Long, blond are rejected because they are both specified as values to exclude.
longitutude, along are rejected because long is specified as a value to exclude.
LONE is rejected because option to match case was selected.

Example2:
Find files containing lon or lhr or lgw.
Do NOT match case but match whole word.
Remove Date/Size criteria (Do not select files by date/size)
Only Find when bkk or sin within 200 bytes of value found
Exclude when ku or gf are within 20 bytes of value found
Find files Named *, Look In C:\Temporary Internet Files\, Include Subdirs.

This example is designed to look for pages that have been displayed using Internet Explorer with details of flights from London Gatwick or Heathrow airports to either Bangkok or Singapore but excluding flights from Kuwait or Gulf airlines.

Results of example1 will be:
a file list with all files containing one of lon or lhr or lgw as well as either Bkk or sin with each of the two values found within 200 bytes. Files will be listed from C:\Temporary Internet Files\ or any subdirectory of C:\Temporary Internet Files\.

london and Londoner are not returned because Match whole word was checked.

lon will not be returned when neither bkk or sin are contained in 200 bytes before or after lon.
lgw will not be returned when ku or gf are contained in the 20 bytes before or after lgw.
