Options: Copy/Move Confirm

A. Confirmations
B. Status message
C. Stop Check Space

A. Confirmations

A confirmation can be requested when:
- Delete is selected on the menu or the Del key is pressed ["Initial Delete ..."]
- Before each directory to be deleted [".. and/or each Dir..."]
- Before each file to be deleted [".. and/or each File..."]
- When a directory is created because a directory is being copied together with its subdirectories ["Create Directory ..."]
- Move/Copy that is requesting by dragging files with the mouse and dropping them on a directory in the directory tree or file list ["Mouse operation ..."]
- When any File management action is done on a hidden or system or Read-Only file ["Move/Delete of Hidden/System ..."]

If the corresponding option (see [] above) is checked, a message will be displayed with the possibility to confirm or cancel that particular action.

B. Status message

In the list of results the total number of files/directories copied/moved will be shown. Select the line in the list and press enter to see a list of files/directories that were selected for copy and for which the copy was started.

In this list individual files selected for copy will be shown. The list does NOT include all files in any directories selected.
A directory which was only partly deleted before you pressed Stop will be included on the list with **INCOMPLETE** shown after the directory name. The number of subdirectories of that final directory which are incomplete will also in the message.

Files and directories selected for Copy/Move will only be shown in the list of results when option "Show each selected dir/file ..." is checked.

C. Stop Check Space

Space needed to copy selected files and directories is calculated before the Confirm Copy/Move screen is displayed.
This calculation can take some noticeable time if a large directory is selected.
The calculation can be stopped using the Esc key. However the space required cannot be seen on the Confirm Copy/Move screen.

If the calculation done before the Confirm Copy/Move screen was stopped or the destination drive was changed or action (Move/Copy) was changed, the calculation will be done again before the Move/Copy is started.

If this second space check is stopped by pressing the Esc key, the Copy or Move will only continue if option
"Stop Copy/Move If interrupt Check ..." is checked.

Options: Copy/Move Replace & Recycle

A. Replace
B. Recycle

A. Replace

If a file to be created already exists you will be asked what should be done.
See To move or copy files or directories - 5. Files will now be copied. You will be asked about files to be replaced.

Selecting option "Always" on the screen that asks what to do when a file exists means that files will be replaced [YES] or ignored [NO] or renamed whenever Copy/Move are used without any further message.

One of the five "Always -" options will then be set:

"Always - Replace ..." is the same as answering Yes on the Replace screen.
"Always - Skip file copy/move [Replace: No]" is the same as answering No on the Replace screen.
"Always - Skip file copy/move when same date/size" is the same as answering No when same date/size on the Replace screen.
"Always - Rename (Old)..." is the same as answering Rename Old on the Replace screen.
"Always - Rename (New)..." is the same as answering Rename New on the Replace screen.

Option "Always" can be turned off by changing the Replace Option to "Prompt for action" here.

Option "Always" can be turned on by selecting any of the "Always - ..." options here.

B. Recycle

A backup copy of a file can be made by K-free each time a file is:
- replaced whilst doing a copy/Move ["Make copy of replaced ..."]
- deleted using delete from the file menu or the del key ["Make copy of deleted ..."]
- moved ["Make copy of all moved ..."]
- moved to a different drive ["Make copy when move file to ..."]

The Backup Copy will be made in each case if the option (see [] above) is checked.
If the backup copy cannot be made the action can be aborted or the user can choose to still delete the file without a backup.
To Give a message allowing the option to continue with delete, check "Give option to delete ..."

Options: Copy/Move Misc

A. Space Check
B. Drag Files
C. Refresh File List
D. Update File List

A. Space Check

This is the % of free space on any disk used for a move/copy for which a warning is requested.
You will be warned about a possible space problem before the copy/move is started when the amount of space to be used by the move/copy on the destination drive exceeds this % of free space on that drive.

If there is insufficient space to complete the move/copy you will always be warned.

B. Drag Files

Move/Copy can be started by dragging selected files/directories from file list or directory tree with the mouse.
See To move or copy files or directories - ALTERNATIVE METHOD

Select from the list the default action when files are dropped on a directory.
If "Move/Rename when drive same / Copy if Change Drive" is selected, the default action will be set to Move only if the drive letter of the destination directory is the same as that for the FIRST file/dir in the list.

The action to be used (Move or Copy) can always be changed on the Confirm Copy/Move screen.

When files/dirs are dragged, a directory on the directory tree or file list will be enclosed by a box as the mouse moves over it.
If "Elliptical selection box" is checked, the box will be a thick green ellipse shape. If this option is not checked, the box will be a black rectangle.

C. Refresh File List

Check the box to refresh the file list whenever that file management action is done.

This option is available separately for each of:
- Copy
- Move
- Delete
- Create Directory
- Rename

D. Update File List

Files/directories shown on file list will be updated on each window when move/copy is complete unless option to Update File List (File Menu) for that window is UNchecked.

It is usually desirable to leave this option UNchecked if the file list is too large. To update a large file list with each change to a file can take a long time.

When the file list is refreshed "Update File List" will automatically be checked for the file list window if the refresh is completed (not interrupted).
But when the number of files on the list is more than the "Total Files that will default ..." option specified, the "Update File List" will automatically be UNchecked for that file list window.
