'Delete' - Program Help start.

To delete files or directories:

1. Select the files/directories to be deleted.
2. Choose Delete or Delete without recycle from the file menu.
3. K-free will pause every n items if option set.
4. Check what has been done on status bar and file list.

1. Select the files/directories to be deleted.

All Items Selected in the Current Section will be deleted

The Current Section is the part (directory tree, file list or text) which has a white background.
To change the section, press tab or click on the section required.

Items Selected depends on Current Section.
. When the current section is directory tree - the directory selected is actioned.
. When the current section is file list - the files and/or directories selected in blue and marked with * will be actioned.. If no files are selected in blue, the files selected in green will be actioned.
. When the current section is the text section - the file currently displayed will be actioned.

2. Choose Delete or Delete without recycle from the file menu.

On the confirm Delete screen you can also select whether files will be retained in the recycle directory or not.

Recycle directory has been set to Recycled on the same drive as original location of file.

Files which have been copied to recycle dir will be logged in in BkupLog.csv which is in the same directory as the exe. The log contains the recycle file created and the source file.
Files that are deleted from the K-free recycle dir will be completely removed and cannot be recovered. Note that Windows puts file in subdirectories of recycled when deleted with Explorer. If you then delete the files from the subdirectory of recycled with K-free a backup can still be saved in the recycled dir.

When you try to Move/Copy files you will be warned if there is insufficient space and an option will be available to delete files in recycle directory.
Standard windows recycle processing is not done and windows disk cleanup will not show K-free recycle files.

By creating such plain text logs rather than using the registry and windows features, problems created by windows bugs are reduced.

3. K-free will pause every n items if option set.

If the option is checked on Options: Misc, K-free will pause after processing the number of files entered in options and ask whether to continue with other selected files.

This option is available to make it easy to stop an action which is causing a problem on each file when a large number of files are selected.

If Yes is pressed, a further group of n files are processed and this continue-confirmation screen is displayed again.
If No is pressed, all files are processed without further confirmations being required.
Cancel will stop the current action.

NB:
K-free will only pause for Move/Copy/Delete if BOTH the general option to pause AND the option to pause for Move/Copy/Delete are checked.

4. Check what has been done on status bar and file list.

Total number of files deleted will be shown in the List of results if Show List of results in Status Bar (Windows menu) is checked.

Press stop button on status bar (if shown) or Esc key or any other key defined as stop (check help for keys with F1) to Interrupt the deletions.

In the list of results the total number of files/directories deleted will be shown. Select the line in the list and press enter to see a list of files/directories that were selected for delete and for which the delete was started.

In this list individual files selected for deletion will be shown. The list does NOT include files contained in directories.
A directory which was only partly deleted before you pressed Stop will be included on the list with **INCOMPLETE** shown after the directory name.

Files/directories shown on file list will be updated on each window when delete is complete unless option to Update File List (File Menu) for that window is unchecked.
Options are also available to automatically refresh file list after move/copy/delete. See Options: Copy/Move Misc.

'Delete' - Program Help end.
