'Find' - Program Help start.

Find is used to search for a text value:
- within the Current Section (directory tree, file list or text) of the file list window or
- on the Show Text popup window or
- on the Show Cell popup window.

Find a value in the directory tree section will look for a directory name that is displayed containing the text entered/satisfying the complex criteria.
NB directory names that are not displayed (because the parent directory is not expanded) will not be found.

Find a value in the file list section will look for any cell containing the text entered/satisfying the complex criteria. The entire value to find must be in a single cell.
If a value is found in a hidden cell or fixed rows/cols, it will always be shown on a popup screen. Since the whole contents of each cell are often not visible it is often better to show all found values on a popup. See "Show Popup/Request ...".

Find a value in the text section or on the Show Text popup window will search the entire file displayed for any text entered/satisfying the complex criteria.
If found, the string will be shown selected. The F3 key will find the next string in the text.
At the end of the file you can loop back to the start of the file and re-start the search automatically.

Text will be found even if the file shown is very large. In this case K-free will read the file from disk and you can press the Esc key to stop the search.

Find or Shift+F3 will always display the Enter Find Criteria screen.

NB Find and Clip always apply to the window with the focus (title bar is blue/highlighted). This can be either the pop up text window or a file list window. To change the window, select a window on the Windows menu.
If a file list window has the focus, Find and Clip apply to the Current Section. To Find or Clip text first change section to Text.
